Surprising. I was watching the pageant with my wife and three daughters (I think these competitions are probably mostly aimed at women viewers and not men). During the interview segment with the last five contestants, Miss Oklahoma was asked her opinion of SB1070. The Arizona Daily Star summed it up: Arizona's controversial new immigration law hit the pageant circuit Sunday when a 2010 Miss USA contestant was asked about SB 1070. Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard told judges she supports the new law, which requires police enforcing another law to verify a persons immigration status if theres reasonable suspicion...

Friends - anyone here who has applied in PERM where job required B.S + 2 - 4 yrs of experience? Mine is a Job zone 4(sr. software engineer), requires B.S + 30 months and in the PERM form the lawyer has entered 'No' to H12 question 'Is this normal requirements'. Were they right? Or should I be worried? Anybody can share any experience? Thanks!

I understand that when we re-enter the country using AP we will be given I-94 with the validity period just like that of AP.
So when we renew AP will they even renew the I-94?
Thank you.

Where to send the communication for AC21 to Texas Service Center? Has anybody used the email pilot?
Also, it has been 4 months since I changed my job. Should I file AC21 now?

Quick question,
My case (I-140, I-485) is at Texas Service Center, because when I first applied I used to live in New Jersey and that was the service center I had to use.
I've been having a lot of trouble with Texas and California is working on case like mine a lot faster and I've been living here for the last 18 months.
Is there a way I can transfer my case to CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER?
How?

Whether DHS will follow through or not at the least we will be educating more people on our legal immigration woes.

There's a phrase in American pop culture - "jump the shark" that seems appropriate about now. I guess in the facing rapidly declining ratings, Mr. Dobbs is resorting to even more extreme rhetoric and has now joined the "birthers" desperately peddling one of the sillier conspiracy theories out there. While it showed weak moral stamina, I could at least understand the economic reasoning behind CNN keeping Dobbs on the air when his show was producing healthy ratings. But even that justification for leaving him in prime time has evaporated. It's time to pull the plug. Hat tip to George C....

Hello IVians,
I am not fully aware of all the benefits of having EAD after filing 485. If you have the knowledge about it could you please list down it in this thread.
Thanks.
as of now it lets the spouse to start working.. & then the not too fancy AC21 portability.. Advanced Parole for trvael outside the US etc..
in terms of GC its just another waiting phase..
EAD - Enter Another Delayed process....

AC21 pioneers, any recommendations on picking lawyers around NYC? specifically those that are fairly responsive and charge a fair price on all the procedures / docs that come with maintaining AOS, including a possible AC21 notification letter, renewing EAD/APs....
thank you for any guidances.

Is there any way to know if 140 revoked after approval.is there any change in LUD ?
Put the reciept # in the USCIS online case status, if you see a LUD, check the case status, you might be able to see the "new text/info"

Hi,
I'm presently in J-2 visa and my husband is having J-1 visa.
We both are Indian Nationals. My husband applied for J-1 visa when he was in Germany.
It is mentioned in my husband's Visa clearly that "Two Year rule does NOT apply".
3 months later, I applied for J-2 from India with his visa documents.
In my visa also, it is mentioned that "Bearer is NOT subject to section 212(E). Two Year rule does NOT apply".
Now, we both want to apply for H-1B visa seperately. I want to know whether do we need to apply for H-1B waiver?
It is very much confusing since we are Indian nationals, the two year rule applies. But at the same time, as he was in in Germany while applying, it does not apply as mentioned in the visa.
Please clarify. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lalitha.

A reader sent me a link to a post at the The Future of Capitalism blog reminding folks that being pro-immigration fits right in to a conservative agenda: David Cameron, the British "Conservative" Party leader who favors a top income tax rate of 50%, also wants immigration restrictions that would limit Great Britain's population over the next 20 years to 70 million. The Financial Times has an editorial with some reasons this is a bad idea. Here in America, the restrictionist Federation for American Immigration Reform is a bronze sponsor of next month's National Tea Party Convention. Here at FutureOfCapitalism.com,...

Answer: NO. Most individuals are not aware that a visa that is placed in a person’s passport does not determine the length of authorized stay in the United States. When a foreign national is admitted into the U.S., he or she is issued Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record. Form I-94 shows the nonimmigrant category and indicates how long the foreign national is allowed to stay in the United States.
