They could have done this and re-captured visas with additional fees or whatever. And called it greencard fraud fees it that makes them happy. But the fact is they did not want to do anything to give relief to Immigrants. Recapture (hundreds of thousands of visas) would have significantly helped helped retrogressed countries like EB3 India, China, ROW and EB2 India China. They can take additional fees as long as we know the recapture is being done.

Its only Green card and I am not sure why people get upset big deal. Nobody asked us to move here. And if there is a system in place we cannot be saying its bad and this and that. My PD is DEC 04 do I feel bad someone in 2006 gets it. YES. Is the system crappy yes. I have a MS in US. So all this hoopla about US ms are getting it and not us is wrong. The other question is should I be getting it over others who dont have a MS from US. I believe yes we should.
but thats my thoughts on the subject if someone does not like it I respect his thoughts.

I am in a similar boat I got by second 140(EB2) approved this week. How do I know if my date is ported? Acutually I dont care about porting date I just want to find out if my new approved 140 is now referrencing my 485(filed under EB3) filed in July 2007.

Did you check the New I140 approval notice? The priority date on the latest I140 will have your Old PD. I believe its also advised you file an interfiling request.

I have talked to a representative and he very patiently explained me about the mess.
He clearly and very clearly told me that they have a deadline to send all receipts for June end and July 2nd filers by friday (tomorrow) or worst case monday.
He mentioned that they are working hard to meet this deadline.
Hope this clears the anxiety.

Based on my research on net and discussion with economic savy friends and my own limited knowledge in economics, by any calculation, real-estate in India is going to be in deep trouble. It will be a uncalculated gamble to invest in realty at current prices in India just because the commitment is large and long term with 0 visibility
Even in NRI perspective, set aside the low GDP of india and assume that it will grow beyond wildest dreams in next 20 years (atleast I hope they will control the inflation), the prices are still beyond the Purchasing Power Parity between nations for example US and India. US PPP is around $41500 and stand at 8th position among world countries. Now all 7 countries above US are so called non attractive for NRI's. Where does india stand? 140th position with a Purchasing Power Parity of $3300. Only poor south african, south asian countries are below India in the list.

As someone said, NRI's invest in majority of the projects even before 10% of development is completed. These projects will be completed in next 5 to 7 years. Beyond that new projects that may come up in future which will potentially increase the supply combined with poor purchasing power of local folks and corruption is a real recipe for disaster.

I was shocked to hear one builder with such convincing tone, saying buy it now or you will loose the chance. After a week, he increased the price by 2% and told us that there is a huge demand and he already sold 20 units in 5 days since we talked to him. Hard to believe. That triggered me to do some research and study the situation in that country and when I try to connect the dots.. jeez its scary. It seems they do not consider capacity of drainage, sewer and waste disposal in the area to support increased usage in their project building these flats which will house 100's of new families. Public water supply pipes are also not expanded around the development area to cater increased demand and consumption. Builders just connect water pipes to the nearest public water supply point. God knows when, that public water supply pipes were layed and to support how much consumption? Water preasure in these buildings are 0 and you just see drops :) Solution to this, Builder says its a common norm that all occupants will buy the water and share the cost.
I am not throwing the my small savings to gamble in India. If you get a good deal, go for it or just wait for a correction. Now the question is what is a good deal in given circumstances? If the rotation slow down, investment locks up, poor local PPP with make credit expensive and preasure will build on borrowers to liquidate property which will lead to fall in prices. We can even expect a credit crisis in India in next couple of years.
Do not even compare effect of credit crisis in US to if at all it is going to happen in India. US is still the strongest economy and India is not. (I am not talking about growth rate here but the depth)

We just need 20,000 active members to make a change, which is approx 10% of the total number of GC apps pending. At the most 2000 people are active.
If somebody can being in 20,000 active members to this forum, the change will happen.
I dont think all the 20,000 members need to be active every day or every week. What is that you are expecting them to be active every day. If we are not able to pull the crowd, it is not the inability of the crowd but the leadership. Crowd whether it is Indian or other is always like that. It is the effective leadership that makes the difference. For example if you take Martin Luther King, Gandhi or for that matter any leader, it is their speeches/actions that inspired people to involve in the movement not just the people came all by themselves.

People, most of us here are just afraid that they will get red dots, be ridiculed for their beliefs. But the things is; If we don't fight for our rights, who will. We have to defend our place in the queue, which at the moment is at substantial risk.

If you are not aware, a good bunch of EB3s are now trying to interfile & port their PDs which are between 2001 - 2005 to EB2.
This will potentially put tens of thousands of people in the EB2 queue before most people in EB2 who are waiting.
These people were not eligible for EB2 when they filed their own labor.. so they should NOT BE ALLOWED TO PORT THEIR OLD PDs. Sure EB3 can Interfile .. but you will get a new PD ... the date you interfile.
If we just keep looking... there will be a huge retrogression in EB2. And its not like these EB3 people will get through with the interfiling/porting. Most of them will be issued RFEs. Their labor apps will be audited and their primary EB3 apps will be cancelled. Infact, 85% of interfiling will never successfully make it through. And its not like it will help the EB3 brothers. That queue will still be long... because they are not going to withdraw their EB3 apps.
Also, while they will not succeed in interfiling/porting, they still will have their apps with USCIS and USCIS will sit on them before eventually issuing NOID. Sad part is they will count these when giving numbers to DOS for setting visa bulletins.
This PD porting is the last "not so ethical & legal" thing after labor substitution.. that we need to Put a cork on.
If we don't act now... then we can all expect to stay in AOS for the next 5 years. This holds for both EB2 and EB3.

EB2 benefited from EB1 spillover once this bucket is full - I'm sure EB3 will move a great deal.
Another reason could also be EB2ROW spillover.
It is unfortunate for EB3 folks that their dates are not moving.
Let us wait for the official DOS bulletin and see what reasons they give to advance the dates significantly. Else IV can contact DOS to know how these projections were made.

On my recent visit to Bangalore, i got in touch with a real estate developer(who is also a far relative), here is what he told me. First thing any developer does is to put up a website with some pretty pictures of layout and details like floor plan, location etc. This is the first step in attracting NRI's, he told me when he talks to NRI's, the first question they ask is the URL of the project. No wonder, most of the RE developer in recent times have a website, some of the website are a joke with absolutely no details and the rosy pictures of moon, lakes, birds, parks etc :-))
80% of his customers are NRI's, 10% are local goonda's/politician and rest 10% are common people...I was surprised to hear that some NRI's have bought/booked plots just by looking at the website and remitting money from USA...what happened to old school days of personally visiting, checking paperwork,Vaastu, getting opinions of relatives/friends before buying anything...what is the hurry here is beyond me???

its generally the case, where these loan officers doesn't understand the Immigration process.
I also had to go thru it. I would suggest to give them a copy of I-140 approval. that is an approved doc, than a pending I-485.
Good part is, the Underwriters generally know about the immigration process and would take 1-140 approval doc as a valid doc.
Dont worry, your loan will be approved.

What state you are in?
Here in CA, my wife was in a very similar situation and to complicate matters we had her last name changed to married one in passport since last entry in US. So we were trying to get the driver's license to reflect the name change. Initially the DMV refused saying they need I-94.
So we had the old/new passport, the old H4 approval notice in maiden name and new one in married name and I-94 at the bottom of the H4 approval notice. I then realized that we could use the I-94 at the bottom of H4, and it worked. We got the DL in new name within 1 week of applying.
Just hang on until you get the new approval notices and make sure you carry the original (they should make a photocopy and return original) H4 along with the I-94 on it when you visit DMV.

Just a thought that there are other anti immigrant groups also visiting our website. We are frustrated and angry but all these comments that we are writing are also read by other people and will be used against us to make things harder. Also the general feeling is that American people dont really care or want to understand about GC. For them especially groups like NumberUSA etc want us out. So please stop feeding ideas into people's head without knowing facts. Assumptions are not facts.

. I just didnt say IIT but also REC's. REC stands for Regional Engineering Colleges (there are plenty in India) and that is not a payment seat. Education level is well maintained and by entrance examination standard, its far above GRE level. I think your generalization does not make any sense.Yes there are some decent RECs but there are also some very crapy ones.

I believe that small companies have a big impact too. As someone mentioned, check to see which companies filed GCs in the last 10 years....Infy, TCS or Small body shops?
The notion of H1/L1B is the business not able to find any qualified or willing resource locally. In that case why they are not able/willing to file GC for those guys. Since they want to keep them as slaves...they never file.

Why do you think this is misleading? If you look at the date of the post, then the monday should be the following monday from that date which passed long time back. Let me know exacly what misled you, i may try to re-interpret if need be.

I have politely warned him, because i thought it was the right thing to do because of this discussion going in the wrong direction. I complained the adminstrator and moderator becuase that was the only tool available to me. Whatz wrong in this approach?

This is indeed misleading. After seeing the ongoing tussle between buddyinus and Srikondo, I realised Buddyinus is right. Whats wrong in whatever he's saying??? The purpose of this thread is to discuss about the so called Monday's receipts. But since that Monday is gone, looks like u r fighting over nothing. How dare u warn anybody on this thread. I am with Buddyinus on this. He may be a junior but u dont have any rights to warn him. Beware.
